At the turn of the century, North Shore Country Club was added to a list of blossoming clubs in the Chicago area along the shores of Lake Michigan in 1900. After a few stops along the way, North Shore Country Club finally found its permanent home in Glenview, IL, in 1924.
The prestigious British firm of Colt, MacKenzie, and Allison was commissioned to do the work, and they turned out a product that has undergone relatively minor changes in the last 60 years. The golf course and clubhouse were officially opened on Decoration Day of 1924.
The club has hosted many tournaments since its inception, including; in 1928 the Western Open Championship, in 1933 the U.S. Open, in 1939 and 1983, the Amateur Championship, and in 2011 the Midwest Amateur Championship. North Shore Country Club has proven itself capable of successfully conducting any major championship.
